Timber Framing and Natural Building

Cutting a rafter with a massive saw for a timber framed home

Large timbers, honest joinery, and a way of building that keeps people, animals, trees, and land in the same conversation.

The art of timber framing represents a time-honored approach to ecological construction where substantial wooden timbers are attached through intricate wood joinery rather than through the use of metal hardware.

My journey in this craft was shaped by studying under master artisans who honor the old ways, including those who harvest timber from their own lands and utilize the power of oxen for transport. This, along with my background in regenerative farming and permaculture, informs my dedication to craft and traditional building practices. The use of manual skill and natural materials replaces industrial machinery with a holistic process that respects our environment and the living connections between us and the natural world.

Bonim Wood Builders specializes in bringing these sustainable practices to the Greater Denver area through custom timber framed pergolas and unique exterior wood installations designed for your farm, garden, backyard or home.

I am eager to help bring your vision to life through these traditional methods.

More About Us

Yossi Kuttler - Founder

Yossi has a deep background in organic farming and land stewardship, having worked in those capacities at the Pearlstone Retreat Center in his hometown of Baltimore. Through his time at Pearlstone, Yossi developed a love for building with natural materials, which led him to timber framing.

Yossi learned timber framing as an apprentice at the Heartwood School for Timber Framing, a school of the Timber Framer's Guild.

From there, he has taken his skills to Israel, back to his hometown of Baltimore, all over Colorado, and now the Greater Denver area.

He has built through the use of many different carpentry methods, including post and beam, conventional framing and timber framing.
